NdFeB magnets are available in sintered as well as bonded forms. The bonded form of the material can be produced with close tolerances, with little or no finishing required. The energy product of the bonded form is much lower than that of the sintered form - up to 12 MGOe. The sintered form usually requires some finishing operations in order to hold close mechanical tolerances.
Characteristics:
·Extreme strong residual induction.
·Excellent demagnetization resistance capability.
·Good prices relative to their high magnetic properties.
·Coating is needed for sintered NdFeB magnet.
·Not suitable for high temperature working condition.
Machining And Tolerances:
NdFeB magnets are brittle, though not as brittle as the SmCo magnets. Machining operations should be completed before coating or plating, using diamond tools, and coolants must be used in the process to avoid spontaneous combustion of powder. Standard tolerances for NdFeB magnets are +/-.005” for ground dimensions. Close tolerances are also available by abrasive grinding and cutting.
